Simon Armitage captures the testimonies of war veterans from the Gulf, Bosnia and Malayan wars. Combining poetry readings and a film screening, this landmark event adds to the great tradition of English war poetry that Armitage has re-invigorated for the modern age.

Tariq Ali and Javier Cercas join Gerald Martin to discuss one of the most iconic writers of post-war literature. Martin has interviewed Fidel Castro, Mario Vargas Llosa, Felipe González and Márquez's family, to provide a uniquely detailed portrait of the Nobel Prize-winning author. The event is chaired by Alex Clark, editor of Granta.
