Osage County, brings Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company back to the National Theatre

Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane

Relive the Magic of Oliver! With a Trip to London’s West End. The much awaited show is set to open in December 2008 in London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Bringing to life the renowned characters of Oliver with a cast of more than 100, including Jody Prenger winner of the BBC reality television show I’d Do Anything, Lionel Bart’s masterpiece returns to the West End stage with Rowan Atkinson as Fagin. From December 12.

Disney High School Musical on Ice

The on-ice version of this hit musical, which is currently being screened in cinemas across Britain, runs at the O2 Centre in North Greenwich from December 26 to 29. Tickets cost from £19.50

Young Hearts
2009 theatre season at the Globe announced.
On Shakespeare's birthday, 23 April the Globe Theatre's 2009 season, entitled Young Hearts opens.
Productions will include:

• Romeo and Juliet,

• Love's Labour's Lost (Dominic Dromgoole's 2007 production revival before North American tour in Autumn 2009)

Based on the 1992 film, the stage musical has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner.

The musical premiered at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California in October 2006.

Story

When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place cops are sure she won't be found - a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and an up tight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community, but in doing so blows her cover. Soon the gang are giving chase, only to find themselves up against Deloris and the power of her new found Sister Hood.

Latest London theatre break news - Williams' surprise gig

Robin Williams returned to the UK stage for the first time in 25 years. He treated just 100 comedy fans to a surprise stand-up set.

The actor and comedian chose to warm up for major performances in London later this week by playing at a regular comedy night in a student bar in the capital.

He drew plenty of laughs from a delighted audience at London School of Economics (LSE) during his intimate show.

Around 100 people who paid £12 for tickets to The Chuckle Club saw the special guest.
