Simon Armitage captures the testimonies of war veterans from the Gulf, Bosnia and Malayan wars. Combining poetry readings and a film screening, this landmark event adds to the great tradition of English war poetry that Armitage has re-invigorated for the modern age.

Tariq Ali and Javier Cercas join Gerald Martin to discuss one of the most iconic writers of post-war literature. Martin has interviewed Fidel Castro, Mario Vargas Llosa, Felipe González and Márquez's family, to provide a uniquely detailed portrait of the Nobel Prize-winning author. The event is chaired by Alex Clark, editor of Granta.

Wednesday 26 November
Alastair Campbell talks about his life and career with a special focus on his debut novel, All in the Mind. Drawing on his own experience of depression, alcohol problems and breakdown, Campbell explores the limits of the human mind. The event is chaired by Fiona Phillips.
